b. Support traditional healing practices alongside modern medical care. My role as Sarauniya is multifaceted and deeply intertwined with the social fabric of the Fulbe community, ensuring its prosperity, cultural continuity, and harmonious coexistence with the larger Ashanti Kingdom and Region.

“It was a moment of great honor when I was crowned Sarauniya of Fulbe in Ashanti, Ghana, which allowed me to assume the role of a queen and serve my kingdom to the best of my abilities.” As I contemplated the challenges faced by my Fulbe community, particularly women and girl children, I was reminded of the words of Denis Waitley, who stated that we have two options in life- to accept the status quo or to take responsibility for changing it.

Being a women/girl child advocate, I chose the latter and resolved to take action towards addressing the issues affecting these demographics. After conversing with several women across the African continent, it has come to my attention that those residing in remote villages are deprived of basic medical facilities. The lack of hospitals, clinics, and menstrual supplies has resulted in an alarming rate of maternal mortality and infections.

Additionally, girls are unable to attend school due to the unavailability of menstrual products, leading to poor academic performance, while women are forced to miss work and lose employment opportunities, further exacerbating their predicament.

After witnessing the inadequate healthcare facilities in some underprivileged communities, I was inspired to become an advocate and fundraiser for their cause. I procured the required supplies and donated them to these communities. I also obtained certification in Human Rights to add credibility to my campaign and to raise awareness about this issue on a global scale.
The plight of these women is heart-wrenching and calls for immediate action to address this pressing issue.

Moreover, I am in the process of building a team of professionals to establish a mobile maternal health clinic to provide necessary healthcare services to women and children in these villages.

Furthering my causes as a Sarauniya,I established the Sarauniya International Development Organization in 2023. Using this platform, I have been able to carry out charitable work in education, healthcare, community empowerment, and the advancement of good cultural practices for sustainable development, particularly for children, youth, and women.

EXPERIENCE

Since May 2019, I have been serving as the Sarauniya of the Fulbe Kingdom of Ashanti in Ghana. In this role, I have taken on the mantle of a leader, responsible for overseeing the culture, traditions, and identity of the community under the stewardship of HRM King Osman bin Ahmed, our Laamiido.

As the Custodian of Tradition and Culture, I have been entrusted with the responsibility of preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the kingdom..  This includes being involved in important rituals, ceremonies, and cultural events that represent the essence of the community.

In my capacity as an Advisor to the King, I work closely with him in decision-making processes, serving as a trusted and reliable advisor..  My role in this regard is to provide guidance and support to the king, helping him make informed decisions that are in the best interest of the community.

As a Representative of Women, I symbolize the strength and dignity of women in our communities. In addition, I play a vital role in diplomatic relations with neighboring communities or nations.

I also founded the Sarauniya International Development Organization in January 2024, which is based in the United States and Ghana. This organization is geared towards promoting development in various areas, such as education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.

Above all, I remain deeply rooted in her identity as a mother, cultural custodian, and servant leader. My vision is to restore pride and dignity among the Fulbe people and build bridges between Africa and its diaspora to create a future grounded in unity, prosperity, and peace.
